Maximum security and contemporary performance: UTAX renews its DIN A4 product family

Six new UTAX A4 monochrome multifunctional systems and four new UTAX A4 monochrome printers now available from specialist dealers

Nuremberg/Hamburg, November 9, 2023 - UTAX is launching six new A4 b/w multifunctional systems (MFPs) and four new A4 b/w printing systems with a speed range of 45 to 60 pages per minute and a print resolution of up to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi. The new monochrome models P-4532 MFP, P-4539 MFP, P-4532i MFP, P-4539i MFP, P-5539i MFP, P-6039i MFP and the new monochrome printers P-4534DN, P-5034DN, P-5534DN and P-6034DN offer the highest security standards, improvements in sustainability and performance as well as optimized operation. The four systems P-4532i MFP, P-4539i MFP, P-5539i MFP and P-6039i MFP are also compatible with HyPAS (Hybrid Platform for Advanced Solutions): The app platform makes it possible to add individually required applications to multifunctional systems and thus make document processes more efficient. The ten new A4 b/w systems are now available for business customers via UTAX specialist dealers.

For the new DIN A4 b/w family, UTAX has expanded the security functions and equipped them with security standards that can also be found in the DIN A3 segment from UTAX. All systems in the current A4 b/w series have a data security kit that complies with current ISO requirements and can be activated free of charge in conjunction with an optional hard disk. A secure boot procedure ensures that authorized firmware is used as soon as the systems are booted up - the runtime integrity check takes care of this during operation. The systems can also be equipped with a Trusted Platform Module: a specialized chip that stores and manages the encryption keys generated on the device. The "Follow-Me-Printing" function is also supported: This means that a document is not printed immediately after a print job has been completed, but only after it has been authenticated on a system. This login to the device can be done using a PIN code or, if an optional USB card reader is installed, contactless using a chip card or transponder. A popular function that protects against unauthorized access to documents and information.

The UTAX multifunctional systems in the current A4 b/w portfolio come with a new and brighter user interface. For the four HyPAS-capable MFPs, the user interface of the adjustable 7-inch (17.8 cm) color touchscreen has been extensively revised. Similar to a smartphone or tablet, users now benefit from clear menu navigation and intuitive interaction using contemporary icons, which are already used in the DIN A3 systems from UTAX. The new printers, on the other hand, are equipped with a clear LC display, which makes the systems easy to operate. An additional numeric keypad makes it easier to enter PIN codes.

The four new HyPAS-capable MFPs in particular offer new features to facilitate the digitization of documents. Take travel expense reports, for example: the MultiCrop receipt scan function makes it child's play to capture, digitally crop, straighten and save multiple small-format receipts in a single scan. An optional scan extension kit can also be used to add further functions, for example to convert scans into searchable or editable text files. For the most powerful models in the series - the P-5539i MFP and P-6039i MFP - further additional functions are also available, such as double-sided scanning using a dual scanner (the P-6039i MFP also has an ultrasonic sensor for multi-feed control), an extra 250-sheet output tray and an optional 20-sheet manual stapler. All new systems are equipped with a 500-sheet universal cassette and a 100-sheet universal feeder as standard. The maximum paper capacity is 2,600 sheets and a paper weight of 220 g/m² as well as flexible media processing from up to four additional cassettes.

The housing parts of the new A4 b/w systems can be recycled to a considerable extent. Improved energy efficiency and long-lasting consumables reduce the environmental impact and save costs. For example, energy consumption can be specifically reduced using the "sleep mode". When "whisper mode" is selected, the systems run at half speed and print much more quietly. The new MFPs can also save unnecessary material and energy when scanning and copying thanks to the "Skip blank pages" function.  The energy efficiency is also reflected in the low TEC (Typical Energy Consumption) values of the systems: for the MFPs, they range from 0.62 KWh/week (45 A4 pages per minute) to 0.84 KWh/week (60 A4 pages per minute). For the printers, the TEC values range from 0.59 KWh/week (45 A4 pages per minute) to 0.79 KWh/week (60 A4 pages per minute).

The new black and white models support modern working methods with various additional functions. Technologies such as Apple AirPrint or Wi-Fi Direct can be used with an optional WLAN card. The systems can be equipped with additional memory (64 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB) via an SSD card. Printing via USB stick is also possible. Last but not least, the HyPAS-enabled systems support modern software solutions such as UTAX Cloud Print and Scan, which enables location-independent printing and scanning from the cloud.

The six UTAX A4 b/w multifunctional systems (P-4532 MFP, P-4539 MFP, P-4532i MFP, P-4539i MFP, P-5539i MFP and P-6039i MFP) and the four A4 b/w printers (P-4534DN, P-5034DN, P-5534DN and P-6034DN) are now available from specialist dealers in Germany. The new MFP models replace the product family launched in this segment in 2018 (P-4531 MFP, P-4536 MFP, P-4531i MFP, P-4536i MFP, P-5536i MFP, P-5536iA MFP and P-6038i MFP). The four new printing systems are also successors to existing models (P-4532DN, P-5032DN, P-5532DN and P-6033DN).
